Closing Reception and Taking Down the Show

Experimental Exhibition is complete and the show has been taken down. The reception went down without a hitch: set-up was about 20-minutes, lighting adjusted, and music started (thanks for the tunes Libby). Each of us had received feedback throughout the past weeks, so the closing reception was a real climatic point of this journey.

It was so good to see some familiar and a number of new faces come out and support the show. I wasn’t sure what to expect in regards to guests asking questions or expressing interest. I was prepared to speak to my art, what I didn’t expect was the level of excitement or the questions about technique. Those conversations were refreshing. In my experience, they usually occur between peers during the development of a piece, but after the piece is finalized and on display it is a rare occurrence. I caught myself in deep dialog a couple times and ended up leaving the gallery abuzz with energy. It is moments like those, whatever frequency they may be, that let me know I’m on the right path, doing what I am meant to do.

Here are just a few pictures of the reception.

Packed up and ready to go.
