I always learned best by doing. My most recent lesson learned involved a rather large silicone mold. In this instance, I discovered that it is not only important to have an opening to pour my material, (i.e., plaster, concrete, etc.) but having a method for air to escape. I mistakenly thought my sprue would be enough of an opening for both material to be poured and air to escape, I was wrong. When I opened my mold I discovered trapped pockets of air
Although disappointing, I have a clear plan on moving forward. Sometimes taking a step back is the best way to move forward.
